Conditions have been extremely hot and dry; however, 2 things have kept conditions in the mildly dry conditions. First, traces of precipitation have combined with heavy dew, fog, and humid conditions to keep the soil from drying out too quickly. Second, precipitation (heavy but brief) has occurred today. Therefore, soil conditions have remained mildly dry. This is reflected in plants and grass remaining green except in the shallowest soils and normal fire risk. Streams and lakes remain normal as well. Only the dust activity has increased as top soil dries.
