We received only a trace of rain this week and had very high temperatures, upper 90s most days. The two week rainfall total is 0.56”. Soil moisture is very low or absent and plants and crops are seriously affected. Most plants are dead or dying and the trees are continuing to drop leaves. Some trees in my yard are completely bare like it’s mid winter. I’m having to water the landscape plants to keep them alive but some have died anyway. The lawn is brown. Local pastures are burned up and livestock are having to be fed hay. Many ponds are dried up or nearly dry as are the streams and rivers. We continue to be in a burn ban and high wildfire danger exists. The current drought is probably the worst it’s been since at least 2012.
