Description:
For the week ending 9/6/2026, conditions were NEAR NORMAL. The 7-day cumulative precipitation total of 0.44 inches was 44% below the 13-year (2009-2022) average of 0.78 inches and in the “near normal” range; the 30-day total of 3.67 inches was 7% above the expected 13-year average of 3.42 inches and in the “near normal” range; and the 90-day total of 13.72 inches was 34% above the expected 13-year average of 10.25 inches and in the “mildly wet” range. The 7-day water balance was -0.22 inches (0.44 inches of rain minus 0.66 inches of evapotranspiration). There were 3 days of measurable precipitation, with a maximum 0.22inches on the 31st. Temps ranged from 91 F (on the 2nd) to 62 F (on the 6th), with average Hi/Lo temps of 87/73 F (+9/+13) relative to last week); there were at least 3 days with Heat Indexes of at least 90 F: 102 F on the 31st, 101 F on the 1st, & 96 on the 3rd). Precipitation Trends—August to End: 3.72 inches (down 0.55 inches, 87% of PRISM Normal); Year to Date (2026): 34.80 inches (up 6.60 inches, 123% of PRISM Normal). Despite the high temps this week, neighborhood yards remain green and continue to grow, requiring frequent mowing. Flowering plants have required daily watering this week. Wood Ducks have been daily visitors to the shallow waters of Crescent Lake to feed on dropped acorns. There is an super-abundance of Sugar Maple seeds.
