A total of 0.86" of precip for the seven days past was recorded here and was just enough to return the soil to a near normal condition.  Local waterways are running fairly clear and clearly fair.  Trees and shrubs are looking lush and have grown a lot this year.  And area lawns are currently growing exceptionally fast.  I've never had to mow every 3 or 4 days before but for some reason that is what's needed right now.  No doubt the wet enough conditions along with warm to hot temps are having some effect but that doesn't entirely explain this recent growth spurt.  Maybe the grass is making up for lost time due to the several drought spells that occurred earlier this year.  Wildlife has been pretty quiet out there but there is a chickadee that flies in quite often when I step outside, chirping away; as if to say hello.  Now I don't know if it's the same one or not but it strikes me as unusual that it happens at all.  I greet it accordingly and wonder if there's some connection there but I will never know for sure.  Maybe it's not saying hello but saying hey, stay away from my feeder.
