For the week 8/30 - 9/5 2026 ----- EARLY MORNING TEMPERATURES at Data collection: Aurora: 65, 67, 64, 63, 58, 62, 62 & Kingsford : 65, 66, 63, 63, 57, 61, 62, -----Highs this week still in the high 70's & low 80's and Tuesday a high of 92------ WATER CONTENT IN THE GAUGE: AURORA - .26, .17, 0, .11, 0, .04, .04 Total= .62" KINGSFORD - .26, .16, 0, .10, 0, .03, .04 Total= .59 ----- SNOWFALL- Aurora and Kingsford : nothing no snow ----- MENOMINEE RIVER: Water levels all week at a low summer water height and river flow in the mid to low 800's  Water height has been low over the summer so far but this week starting to gain volume -----US DROUGHT MONITOR: Both Florence and Dickinson Counties are in the severe stage according to the actual US Drought Monitor (not the CoCoRaHS one on this site). Grass has made an improvement with some dry patches of grass greening, but need more rain to take care of the grass in the open. Still a lot of brown grass in yards with little shade. Friday's misty rain all day hopefully will help along with the rest that fell this week. ----- WILDFIRE RISK: even with the severe drought we are experiencing, the risk is LOW for Florence and Dickinson counties ----- AIR QUALITY: This week excellent no smoke ------TOURISM: Most campers I have seen and just Friday alone, 6 campers drove passed. Older retired seniors towing or driving campers from both the east and west directions. Boat towing same as last week, meh, low. BUSINESS: Local and regional traffic for construction has been good. Lots of heavy equipment moving through uptick for loggers this week. NO farm machinery did I spot. Local contractors, about the same as last week, steady. -----WILDLIFE: Deer are still running around. Velvet on the bucks antlers, all deer I have seen are honey blonde both male and female, no swamp deer, geese have been flying back and forth up and down the river, some headed south. Squirrels and rabbits active and chipmunks as well. Increase in Woodpeckers and Bluejays in the yard and the wild turkeys have been busy across the street.----- PLANTS: Last Wednesday morning, I noticed tree tops of some trees changing color. Red, orange and yellow are very noticeable. My red Maple, shedding like crazy and is 1/2 red and leaves dropped about 1/3rd off that tree. Color change has slowed a bit and the Rain has helped that. Lazy susans still blooming, onion plant blossoms died off this week in the shade. Not much color change on the sumac but the leaves that did are starting to drop off  ----- That's all I have for this week. Enjoy your weekend!
