After a wet July, we flipped back to very dry in August, making 7 of the first 8 months of the year drier than normal, and 10 of the last 11.  With our normal August bringing 5.93 inches of rain, we received 4.12 inches less than usual. We now have a year-to-date deficit of 9.55 inches.
