So far this summer, our annual monsoon has been a no-show at my location. My August rainfall total was only .10". Making the second driest August for my station since 2007...only 2011 was drier with .06". 

My year-to-date rainfall total stands at 8.24" compared to my Prism average of 7.95". In June, I recorded 3.63"; in July, 2.20". A quick greenup of the countryside in July has since ended. Most areas around me in SE NM are below average rainfall so far this year. My location is one of the wetter spots in the area outside of the mountains. 

So far this year, I've recorded 61 days with high temps of 100 or greater. 

Out of the last ten years, only 2017 saw above-average precipitation (Prism records) with 14.92".

The combined above-average relentless summer heat of the past couple of years has taken its toll on local vegetation and rangeland livestock and animals.
