Due to a dry winter and spring and, thus far subpar monsoon, the bear population, having nothing to eat in the mountains, has descended into the Guadalupe and San Diego canyons and as far south as San Ysidro. Bears have broken into at least one trailer home and ransacked dumpsters and garbage cans. Many residents have game cameras and are reporting multiple sightings throughout the day and night. Unprecedented in the experience of lifelong residents.
