I think we have moved into D2, severe drought. Here at my home, only a Trace of precip for the month of August. My YTD still stands at 23.00. Daily highs for this month had be mostly 100 and over with my highest at 110. Our unwatered soil is extremely dry with moderate cracks about 1 inch. There was a large fire west of Fort Worth, about 70 miles. But I've seen several roadside grass fires. Birds and wildlife are doing okay at my feeders and water pans but suspect they have problems in various areas around Texas. Our plants are suffering too. Many trees have yellow leaves. Yards are brown/green if not watered. Very nice green yards are often watered daily. Area lakes range from near full to 7 feet down at the lowest lake.
