General Awareness: Last week we received 0.11" of rain. Temperatures rose from 7-31 C making it another warm week. Skies were at times hazy & smokey; winds rose from calm to 38 km/hr.
Events: Nearby at Camp Harmattan - various groups came for their annual summer camps. 
River levels remain low. Farmers have begun harvesting their crops.
Energy: No need to light the wood heater. 
Fire: There is currently NO Fire Restriction or Fire Ban in effect in Mtn. View County.
Plants & Wildlife: 
Garden: Zucchini, pole beans, tomatoes, etc continue to grow.  Dug some hills of potatoes. Peas were well trimmed by deer.
Lawn: Mowed the yard and ditches. Rain is needed. 
Wildlife: No sign of deer, bears or cougars in the yard or adjacent cemetery. However, we spotted a deer in the neighbors field east of us. 
At Camp Harmattan, north of us, a worker spotted a doe and fawn; squirrels; a flock of 10-15 Hungarian Partridges; and 8 doves. 
Birds at feeders & birdbaths: 2 chickadees. 1 rose-breasted nuthatch; 1 blue jay; 1 Pileated woodpecker. Other birds in the yard: robins; house sparrows, crows and magpies. While out for a drive we saw: Starlings, hawks & crows. 
Note: Seems like the goldfinch have begun their migration.
Insects: flying ants in the garden; flies; mosquitos; butterflies; honey bees and wasps; I heard a frog nearby.   
Society & Public Health: Neighbors are glad that its begun to cool off. 
Tourism & Recreation: Camp grounds are still busy. People are out quading, biking, hiking. Schools open Aug. 31st.
