The soil is beginning to dry out due to the lack of rainfall. The lower 1/4 of the corn crop is drying nicely; the bean crops are still tall and green. All other vegetation is retaining moisture and will not sustain combustion. Lakes and ponds are below normal levels; creeks and streams are close to 1/3 their normal levels.
