We received 0.56” of rainfall this week which helped some with the vegetation for a few days but didn’t do much for the trees or add to water levels like we need. The rain total for the month of August has been 1.13”. Soil moisture at the surface benefited from the rain but is now back to being very dry. Plants are suffering from the lack of moisture and the intense heat. Most of the trees in my yard are brown and many have already dropped their leaves. Water body levels are decreasing very quickly now and most streams are dry as well as some of the smaller ponds. Many livestock farmers are having to feed hay to their animals. Wildfire risk is very high now with all the brown leaves and grass, low humidity and some wind.
