Weekly precip was 1.67 inches. A typical week for late August. We are cutting beans now. The only day that wasn't 94 degrees or above was this past Monday when it topped out at 85 due to clouds and light showers/sprinkles most of the day. Wednesday was the hottest day (98) and was also the day of our biggest rainfall event in about a month. Some areas of the farm received over 2 inches of rain that day (1.64 at gauge location). We started cutting again yesterday afternoon and the ground conditions were quite soft. Amazing how well 1.5 to 2 inches of rain can turn concrete consistent ground into the soft conditions I saw yesterday (This ground was irrigated 3 times while the beans were growing so not as dry as native areas). The yard is still firm though the recent rain has perked up the dry spots. I would say we are somewhere between mildly dry and near normal. Since we were tracking up the field yesterday I opted for near normal.
