With another 0.77” of rain earlier this week, conditions remain near normal for end of August. The Pascoag reservoir has held steady at 8’11” and is not quite overflowing the spillway. Canadian geese are getting noisy on the lake getting ready to migrate. We are also seeing the Bald Eagle, Blue heron and various hawks. We haven’t heard the Baltimore orioles for the last week or so, so they may have left for the season. The lawn is growing fast and needs mowing more than once per week. Our tomatoes continue to produce like crazy, another bumper crop. For flowers, the Rose of Sharon and Tree Lilac are in full bloom while we sadly cut our last gladiolus of the season for the vase in the kitchen. They are such great cut flowers. Fire danger is posted as Low at George Washington state campground. Boating and fishing continues on the lake but has slowed down a bit now that the local kids are back in school.
