Just over 5mm of rain over this past week. Lake level has dropped another 1.5” this week, and is about the same level as this time last year, which is low for late summer. Boaters are noting increased navigational caution due to lowered lake levels. Forest fire hazard rating has been upgraded to High, I think in response to the removal of fire restrictions throughout the region. There are no active fires nearby. Stressed birches continue to drop leaves. Lawn hasn’t required mowing in weeks. Gardens require supplemental watering. Mosquitos have disappeared, making twilight hours very pleasant. Underbrush and Virginia creeper changing colour. Recreational lake activity on the weekend a little quieter as summer winds down.
