Report Date: 8/23/2026
Submitted: 8/23/2026 9:46 PM
Scale Bar: Mildly Wet
Description:
We received 0.04" of rain in the past week. That puts the current monthly total at an astonishing 13.93". Mississippi river at Muscatine, Iowa has receded to level preceding the deluge of the heavy rains. Our ranch creek and area rivers are still higher than normal, but well receded from earlier levels. Our ranch lake is at capacity, but water is no longer discharging from the overflow. Pasture and fields are still damp, low lying areas are muddy, but contain no standing water. Took 9 pictures of unidentified game bird hen and 6 or 7 chicks. Not Pheasant, Quail, or Chukar, on-line ID tool made a match to Grey Partridge considered "extremely rare" in Illinois. Have reached out and offered pictures and sighting information to Illinois DNR.
