Condition Monitoring Report
Station Number: MN-MC-7
Station Name: Silver Lake 1.7 N
Report Date: 8/24/2026
Submitted: 8/23/2026 8:04 PM
Scale Bar: Mildly Dry
Description:
The South Fork of the Crow River where County 2 crosses it between Glencoe and Silver Lake is sinking slowly. A sand bar has begun to show as it sinks.
Some farmers are busy making hay - in some cases a third crop!! The hay seems to be in good condition and dries quickly with the relatively low dew points.
Most of the garden is doing okay, although cucumber plants are wilted. Marigolds, zinnias, cosmos and sunflowers are attracting many butterflies.
When we have mowed the grass, it grows back very slowly.
Most corn fields look okay, but some soybeans are showing signs of drought, especially between here and St. Cloud where the soils are sandier.
Overall, we would really appreciate some rain to keep things doing well heading into the fall!
