Thus far in my “Watershed,” that resides in the “Upper Passaic River” Watershed, that covers from 1.5 miles to the NW to about 1.5 miles to the SE and is about 1 mile in width and in the general shape of a diamond;

There were FOUR days with measurable precipitation and zero days with trace precipitation for a total of 2.74, inches the past seven days [Sunday-Saturday]. 

River and stream volume the past week of this CMR maintained their rates of flow over small lake dams west of this station. As of Sunday, 8/23/2026; one covered 100% the width of the dam 6.5 miles from this station moving at a slow volume, with  observable turbidity. The other, 2 miles to the west also decreased its flow over its fall at about 65%, moving at a similar volume with observable turbidity.

The Madison Golf Course, adjacent this station had observable play all days between rain drops. The ground around this station is moist and soft to walk on . Grass and weeds required maintenance. Active Birds around this station included; House Finch, Pigeons, Doves, Blue Jays hummingbirds. No Crows or Cardinals were heard the past week. The Thistle Feeder that was filled Sunday April 26, 2026 for the first time, as of this report, had 6-8/10” consumed for a total weekly consumption of 4/10ths from the previous week. The same was cleaned and refreshed new on 8/23
The Hummingbird Feeder was filled for the first time on 5/10/2026 and had observable use for the first time on 6/25. The  Hummingbird feeder starting weight on 8/16, was 1042g and on 8/23 had 42g consumed or 4% usage, the previous seven days and had daily observable use. The feeder was refreshed this week with a starting weight of 1109g.

Cicadas were first observed on July 31, being heard frequently. None were heard the past week. Moths were observed this week, but no butterfly’s.
Neighborhood squirrels, Chipmonks and rabbits were all observed adjacent this station the past week. A Bumble Bee was seen buzzing this obs post. Mosquitoes continued to bite. Temperatures the past week were normal seasonal highs and lows. Temperatures were warm, and humid all days. Lighting Bugs / Fireflies that were first observed on 06/17/2026, were not seen the past week.

Over the past 31 days; this station has captured and reported 9.63 inches of precipitation. There has been 92 days of precipitation the previous 234 days of CY2026 [1/1/2026 to 8/22/2026] for a “Calendar Year” [CY] total of 
32.51”, compared to 91 days of precipitation and a [CY] total of
32.96” the same [year to date] in CY2025. So far, compared to last year, this station has received 0.45” less precipitation than a year ago, what continues to be a remarkable turn-a-round the past six weeks. Some other totals from previous years, for comparison, are;

The TWELVE year running average total precipitation for this station is: 34.63 inches, making this stations total deficit:  2.12” less then the 12 year average and this year is the sixth DRIEST year this CMR has been posted. Considering the twelve year annual comparable total for this station and total precipation from previous years, is why I believe that it is appropriate to return this week’s report on the “NORMAL” side of the Condition Scale Bar.
