Description:
A dry week with 0.44" evapotranspiration, Water Year to date holding around 88% of normal.  Drought Map moved Southern Humboldt into the D1 category--Moderate Drought.  The Western Region Climate Center 30-day maps show Humboldt in the 5-25% precipitation level, and temperatures 0-2% above normal.  Average high and low here for the week 70.1 degrees and 54.8 degrees.  Ruth Lake Reservoir on 8/18 at 84%.  Rivers inland holding steady or slightly falling while remaining warm.  Unfortunately, two more drownings on the Trinity River at Willow Creek.  The Mile Post 18 fire near Hoopa now 76% contained at 7600 acres, and Hwy 96 open.  Some spring migrant birds passing through, indicating the movement south has begun.
