Station Number: ID-AD-9
Station Name: Boise 2.1 NNE
Report Date: 8/23/2026
Submitted: 8/23/2026 10:23 AM
Scale Bar: Moderately Dry
Description:
August 12 - 23, 2026: little more than a trace of rain during the past 12 days; hot, muggy at times, variable AQI but mostly in the yellow range; new wildfires starting from lightening and man; most new fires are being strongly attacked by NIFC and county/local fire departments by smoke jumper, bulldozer, aerial water and retardant drops, and on-site crews. Anna's hummingbirds have returned. Black chinned have moved on. Watering gardens daily because of hot days (upper 90's), high UV, and low humidity (usually). Weather systems moving north and east from Utah and Nevada (monsoon patterns) are bringing some rain to southern and central mountain areas but not to the Boise basin. Lucky Peak reservoir is being kept mostly full (90%); Arrowrock Reservoir is being emptied (19%) to keep Lucky Peak as full as possible; Anderson Ranch Reservoir is being slowly emptied (63%). Water levels in the South fork Payette River are still high enough for kayaking but soon will be lowered as Deadwood Reservoir releases more water. Hot. Dry. Smoky. Sums it up.
