Since last report on 08/16/2026, recorded a total of 0.18" of precipitation which 0.16" was observed last night. Soil sample taken this morning shows slightly less topsoil moisture compared to last week. Soil is moist but unable to pack in my hands. If it wasn't for the precipitation last night, the soil would be much drier today. Watered all trees this past week. If we don't receive significant precipitation the next few days, I will be watering the deciduous again.
Grass wildfire was extinguished quickly along CO Highway 94 south of Falcon I believe on Friday. Ellicott and Cimarron Hills fire departments responded.
Hummingbirds continue to hang around. They're usually gone by the end of August. Native grasses are struggling to gain any growth. Not sure if we will get enough precipitation to mow one last time this season. With topsoil moisture holding fairly steady, I will continue with a Condition Scale of Mildly Dry.
