Scale Bar: Moderately Dry
Description:
Another week of mainly foggy overcast days, with some limited sun and breezes in the afternoon. Ocean conditions were calm and suitable for water sports and fishing. Saw a number of boats out this week. Fall is definitely on its way, with leaves on our native grapes already beginning to turn red and leaves dropping. Had the first local blackberries of the year this week. Over the 15 years we've lived here, we have noticed a striking drop in the number of insects, so it was a pleasure to see dragonflies and a lovely Tiger Swallowtail butterfly this week. But, it's been another summer without the big garden spiders we used to see. Moist conditions have been good for the landscape, but the ground water level continues to drop--but fortunately, no water restrictions so far this summer. Lots of tourists in the area and RV parks are still full, but starting to see folks pulling their sport boats out for the winter.
