General: The week has been hot and dry, up until yesterday with .04" of rain in a severe thunderstorm. We had some really intense lightning with this storm. Generally, we're dry and hot.
Agriculture: Our neighbors continue the mustard harvest (all the wheat we can see has been harvested).
Energy: We're still in strong production mode for solar energy. Yesterday we created 60.97 kWHR and only used 23.16, even with air conditioning and baking in the afternoon. It's a testament to the benefits of solar.
Fire: Fire danger is high, and we have had multiple fires in the area. We saw the residue of one at the border between Pocatello and the county on Buckskin that wasn't reported anywhere. Fort Hall had a pretty significant fire with structural losses. Risk is high and we're all looking over our shoulders.
Plants/wildlife: It's dry, though we actually have a smidge of water in the creek on McNabb. This week we saw the annual dragonfly event. It seems like it only lasts a day or two, but we see many, many dragonflies. It's a great event. We still mourn the loss of the Buckskin beaver pond, as do the moose, ducks, geese, deer, badgers, and elk who used to use it. I'm still not happy with Bannock County Roads and Bridges for destroying it.
Water: We're lower than our 6 year average. We expect 1.23" for August and we're at .73" with about a week to go. That's within 1 SD, but just barely.
