Grass is brown and I have here in Aurora 2 charcoal burned grass spots with the sun blazing so hard and grass so dry they literally smolder burned. A new 1st for my yard. Where there is no shade, it's dried wheat to light brown colored grass. Only afternoon shade to all day shade is there green grass. I mowed just 2 times this month and the second time just mowing down some weeds and grass in the full shade and that is strongly unusual, however little by little and especially after last night and early this morning's rains, I see more green grass than I have seen pretty much all month ------ AIR QUALITY: This week excellent ------ WILDFIRE RISK: Both Florence & Dickinson County are in the low category thanks to that very much needed rain Friday early evening and this Saturday morning------ TOURISM: Still strong saw 5 campers go passed my house this week and a bunch at Walmart and traveling along highway US 2. Boat towing was still low this week. A windy few days kept the fishermen off the water I saw this week in just 2 rides on the river when I went, just 5 total and they weren't biting much Saw vehicle License plates while in town from Missouri, New York, Texas & Florida------BUSINESS: Loggers active, HVAC, Big Rigs towing equipment and articles for construction & 1 farm equipment this week-----WILDLIFE: Deer population still good, they look healthy too and eating well. Finally this week saw two eagles flying above the river. Geese 1 flock heading south and another flock from the north landing by the bridge. Saw one blue heron, plenty of ducks. No sighting of the Nighthawks yet. Oh and a flock of wild turkeys has shown up this week in the neighborhood----- PLANTS & TREES: Leaves off Box Elders and Red maple dropping fairly steady and my sugar maple only has dropped a few dried out ones. My onion plants and Black eyed susans are still hanging in there and raspberry bushes already produced berries.----- That's all I have for this end of the week. Get out and enjoy the nice weather before it changes!
