Conditions at station are mildly dry, which is somewhat normal for this time of year at this location.   Last significant rainfall was one week ago, and station is currently 0.71 inches below normal.   Intermittent thunderstorms have combined with over 14 days of high heat indices to create a slightly dry condition.   Lawn is still green, but growth has slowed and cutting hieght will be adjusted up a half inch.   The usual ornamental (Mulberries)trees have begun to shed leaves and turn yellow with significant shed.   Soil is dry and hard.  Oaks are still green. Moss is dry and easily damaged.   Reptiles are still plentiful, some amphibians, but snakes are fewer.   Creeks and intermittent ponds are drying up.  I would only conduct small landscaping burns with great caution.   Annual rainfall amounts are still within normal range, but edging downward over past two weeks.   Landscaping has weathered the main part of the summer with good results.
