Condition Monitoring Report
Station Number: MT-RV-18
Station Name: Hamilton 9.2 SSW
Report Date: 8/17/2026
Submitted: 8/17/2026 5:55 AM
Scale Bar: Moderately Dry
Description:
after a brutal hot, smoky, dry start to the week (and previous month), we finally got .67" rain in a couple of thunderstorms this week. But they were hit or miss--some places got much more and some places got almost nothing. But it's enough for now to low the drought conditions to moderate, at least until the hot dry weather returns (later this week). Streams are still low and soil is still dry below a few inches down. Smoke is mostly gone at the moment, and local fires have minimal activity. Our small nearby fire was only smoldering even before the moisture, although the USFS was using it to justify logging miles from it, getting the cut out anyway they can. USFS is calling fire danger extreme, and all campfires are banned (but people still build them anyway). Grass is still brown. Garden is producing green beans and the first tomatoes of the year.
