Since last reported on 08/09/2026, recorded a total of 0.57" of precipitation after the seasonal monsoon returned. Topsoil sample taken today reveals consistently moist soil down to the 4.0" level. I can now pack soil in my hands, whereas, last week, the soil was powder dry. No need to provide trees supplemental water if we continue to receive precipitation the next few days as forecasted. There are some stations around here that have received significantly more precipitation than ours as thunderstorms continue to move and develop around our property instead of over it.
Bird activity has normalized since the rain returned with Robins feasting in our yard. Continue to observe three Hummingbirds working our flower beds. Also observed another Dragonfly flying around our water feature. Forgot to mention in previous report that we observed a Pronghorn buck grazing in our neighbor's front yard. The herd must have been in the empty space to our north. Saw a Falcon perched on our fence post a couple of days ago. We have plenty of Voles for it to feast on.
Grass is starting to show signs of life again with new green sprouts. Maybe I will mow one more time after all. Time will tell. No more wildfire smoke as we had last week. With soil moisture returning, I am revising the Condition Scale from Severely Dry to Mildly Dry.
