An increase in monsoon moisture with several days of rain but nothing significant. In fact, it has been drier than normal for August. There have been areas with much better rainfall totals but not here. A total of .28 inches fell last week and .76 for the month. Being that August on average receives 3+ inches, we desperately need more. This comes after July was above normal but not by a great deal. The longer range forecast for the rest of the month indicates above normal rainfall. So there is still a chance to catch up. It started off hot but highs cooled some with the increase in moisture. The high of the week was 92° last Sunday. High temperatures did cool into the upper 70's towards the end of the week. Lows were in the 50's and 60's. The low of the week was 54° on Saturday. Breezy when storms were nearby but otherwise, no strong winds. No change in plant life in the surrounding open/wildland areas with green plants mixed in with older, dry plants. Pictures included and show the surrounding area. Harvesting a lot of yellow squash in the vegetable garden and tomatoes are ripening. The pumpkins are really starting to take off now, so there is some hope of pumpkins for Halloween. A lot of finches visiting the garden and saw a bullfrog by the pond and garter snakes.
