My selection on the Condition Scale may not be correct, but it is an indication of how quickly things can change. This last week has seen us go from abnormally hot and dry conditions, to flash flood warnings!  Monsoon moisture has moved in and we have received 2.31 inches of rain in the past 72 hours.  In our area, this has meant some minor Street flooding and erosion of soil on hillsides.  The streams are running again - at the moment.  Cow ponds have filled.  With the exception of the last 24 hours, when 1.55 inches of rain received, the moisture was soaking in quickly.  The dry ground was like a sponge.  Weeds have already responded rapidly to the much needed moisture with new growth coming on.  Native grass, on the other hand, has experienced some green-up, but not enough time has past for any new growth.  The drought's impact on local pastures is unchanged.  At the moment, fire risk is low.  Burning and watering restrictions remain in effect.
