Although station precipitation has not been too significant, cooler and more humid conditions as well as areas of heavy rainfall in the vicinity have significantly improved surface moisture around the area in the past few days. Some areas have had flash flooding or mudslides due to heavy rain. Fire danger is highly variable at this point, ranging from very high in some locations to moderate in other places that have had significant rainfall. As a whole, severe drought remains in place across most of the region although there are substantial areas with at least temporary relief from heat and drought.
