The area continues to dry out with no rain and daily temps near 100 F. I have recorded 0.01 inches of rain since the big flooding storms that ended on July 16th. That is less than 1% of our average August rainfall. Still, plants in the area are green and growing with no signs of stress and the soil has yet to get hard. The drought index remains unchanged with no drought conditions in the county and the DSCI remains unchanged at 0. The Llano River also continues to flow at above average rate indicating the ground water supply has not been depleted. The USGS reports the river at Hwy 87 is flowing at 294 cfs vs. the 53-year median of 108 cfs. There is still an abundance of recreational users on the river. There are no burn bans in effect in the county.
