Our condition here is now moderately dry. We received about an inch of rain last week. Storms in the last two weeks have brought more rain to the Piedmont region. Currently NC is classed overall as moderately dry. Our hot weather is forecast to cool somewhat next week, with possible rain and "pop-up" thunderstorms. Lawns and gardens look healthy. Birds and deer are active. Nearby Jordon Lake levels have dropped several feet, lower than usual for this time of year. Chatham County is still under a "stage 2" water use restriction. People are out in the mornings but our recent very hot weather drives everyone indoors in the afternoon. Last week the heat indices were up to 100-105.
