Description:
The week of August 3rd to 9th was fairly typical for the time of year, warm and dry.  Statistically, this is the driest time of year at this station.  There was a total of 0.2mm of precipitation for the week.  The highest temperature was 30.3c on the 5th, and the lowest 4.6c on the 3rd.  Average for the week was 17.7c.  In general, conditions are seasonally dry, with much of the grasses being brown, except in areas where the ground is irrigated.  There are severe wildfires close to populated areas, particularly in the southern interior.  For example, 20,000 residents in the town of Summerland on Okanagan Lake has been ordered to evacuate.  Sadly, there has been one confirmed death of a resident so far.  There is no significant wildfire activity on Vancouver Island.
