On Tuesday afternoon, the clouds opened and dropped a bunch (0.42”) of rain in a few (14) minutes.  Mostly runoff from the rain as it came down in buckets with little wind.  And again Wednesday, a little more rain with more penetration into the soil.  The rest of the week was dry, and with the soil moisture in good shape within the top three inches, the soil worked well just to disturb the weeds in the garden.  But by the weekend, the soil was powdered again.  Drainage ditches are mostly dry.
