A total of 0.37" of rain over the week helped maintain our mildly dry soil condition.  The soil is near normal at the surface but while digging some potatoes it became clear that deeper soil is still too dry.  We could use a good rain that reaches those deeper soils and with our NWS forecasting rain over the next few days, who knows.  Area waterways did come up slightly from last weeks rains and are close to their normal levels.  Meanwhile, the trees and underbrush are looking good while lawns around here are slowly recovering.  The usual dry and brown spots that recovered from the previous dry spell are not recovering from the latest dry spell as well, possibly because of the high temps this time.  I might have to reseed those spots.  Time will tell.  Wildlife is sort of quiet, with the usual birds at the feeder and some turkeys roaming the area.  I did see a couple of muskrats swimming around in the nearby golf course pond.  And one lone rabbit that keeps hanging out near my garden.  Just one but they breed like rabbits.
