Just over 4mm of rain over this past week from a couple of isolated thunderstorms. Forest fire hazard rating is High, and restrictions remain in place. Lower Black Sturgeon Lake level continues to drop at a slower pace, down by just 0.5” this past week. The lake has been busy with cottagers, recreational boating and fishing, jet skis and beach activity over this warm holiday weekend. Blueberry crop is average, with lots of immature undeveloped berries. Saskatoon berries on my property are the most plentiful I have ever seen, in living here 36 years, with little blight impact. Mosquitos are tolerable. Gardens continue to require daily watering. Ditches are dry. Lawn growth has slowed dramatically. Birches have begun dropping yellow leaves.
