Condition Monitoring Report
Station Number: SD-MD-9
Station Name: Faith 36.3 W
Report Date: 8/3/2026
Submitted: 8/02/2026 11:32 PM
Scale Bar: Severely Dry
Description:
DRY, DRY, DRY. Less thann .3" precipitation the last week. Temperatures moderated a bit with highs of 105, 86, 87, 88, 85, 89, 99, and 103 Sunday thru Sunday. Precipitation of 74%, 67%,and 77% of normal for July, YTD, and Water Year respectively. Last month that was above normal was October 2025. Only 7 of the last 31 months have been above the NOAA average. Surface water sources drying up. Pastures have little green except in the draws. Dry lightening has started many grass fires, keeping the volunteer fire departments busy. Deer and antelope increasingly using road ditches because that is where the greenest forage is, resulting in higher road kill rates. Wildlife recruitment seems to be up this year for multiple species. Hay crop about half normal. After 26 years of trying, I had a good start on part of my lawn that was stubborn. The pump I had been keeping it watered crapped out about the 10th of July, just before the heat wave. Didn't get it replaced till late this past week. I'm afraid it's now dead, not dormant-DEAD.
