Thus far in my “Watershed,” that resides in the “Upper Passaic River” Watershed, that covers from 1.5 miles to the NW to about 1.5 miles to the SE and is about 1 mile in width and in the general shape of a diamond;

There were FOUR days with measurable precipitation and zero days with trace precipitation for a total of 3.07, inches the past seven days [Sunday-Saturday]. 

River and stream volume the past week of this CMR increased the previous five days, their rates of flow over small lake dams west of this station. As of Sunday, 9/2/2026; one covered >100% the width of the dam 6.5 miles from this station moving at a slow volume, with some observable turbidity. The other, 2 miles to the west also increased its flow over its fall, covering, now, about 40% of its respective fall, moving at a similar volume with some observable turbidity.
The Madison Golf Course, adjacent this station had observable play all days, four  between rain drops. The ground around this station is moist and soft to walk on, once again. Grass and weeds required maintenance. Active Birds around this station included; House Finch, Crows, Pigeons, Gold Finch, a THREE hummingbirds and a Cardinal. The Song Bird feeder was was entirely consumed and NOT refilled this week. The Thistle Feeder that was filled Sunday April 26, 2026 for the first time, as of this report, had 6-1/10” consumed for a total weekly consumption of 8/10ths from the previous week.
The Hummingbird Feeder was filled for the first time on 5/10/2026 and had observable use for the first time on 6/25. The Hummingbird feeder starting weight on 7/26 of 1007g and on 8/2 had 27g consumed or 3% usage, the previous seven days and had lots of observable use. The feeder was refreshed late afternoon on 8/2 with a starting weight at that time of 1107g.

Cicadas were first observed on July 31, being heard frequently, every 30-60 seconds on 8/2. Additionally, an Eastern Tiger Swallowtail butterfly was observed for the first time this year on 8/1.

Neighborhood squirrels and rabbits were all observed adjacent this station the past week. No Honey bees, Bumble Bees or wasps were observed. Temperatures the past week had normal seasonal highs. Was warm, and humid. Lighting Bugs / Fireflies first flash was observed on 06/17/2026. Over the past week, that frequency, decreased to less than 10 flashes per minute around this station.

Over the past 31 days; this station has captured and reported 8.35 inches of precipitation. There has been 81 days of precipitation the previous 212 days of CY2026 [1/1/2026 to 8/1/2026] for a “Calendar Year” [CY] total of 
25.95”, compared to 87 days of precipitation and a [CY] total of
31.46” the same [year to date] in CY2025. So far, compared to last year, this station has received 5.51” less precipitation than a year ago. Some other totals from previous years, for comparison, are;

The TWELVE year running average total precipitation for this station is: 29.74 inches, decreasing (slightly) this stations total deficit to 3.79” less then the 12 year average and this year was the second DRIEST year this CMR has been posted, by 3.81”. Considering the twelve year annual comparable total for this station and total precipation from previous years, is why I believe that it is appropriate to improve this week’s report on the “Mildly Dry” side of the Condition Scale Bar.
