No drought continues and here is the July recap into the second day of August. July rainfall total of 5.42. EFU tornado confirmed north of the Cedar Rapids Airport (CID). Due to the Extreme Dew Points and High Heat from 7/26/2026-7/27/2026 lead to a carryover of 2.51 inches of rain has now already been received as of 8/2/2026. Certain events were delayed or postponed due to High Heat. Mowing was required. Birds' nests were knocked out of trees. Small twigs, stick debris, and many feathers I observed in the yard. Increase in ants, flies and other flying insects. Summer heat observations-Step outside the doors stuck due to humidity and dew points. Also, your glasses steamed up upon walking outside. Same for the interior of the windows in our vehicles. Same impacts on doors and windows inside the house. Looking ahead for the rest of the Last Month of Summer. Overall Mood Included. Most prepared for the heat, extra hydration, sunscreen, shade breaks taken. I did however notice that the general public at times were more prone to irritability, impatience, and overall crabby moods etc. Enjoy the Rest of The Summer and stay WRN. I would like to share a Personal Special Shout Out to the Volunteer who took Observations and photographed precipitation while I was on vacation. Also, the US Department of Energy has a Emergency Power Order set to expire late Monday August 3rd 2026.
