Field flowers are growing now due to the July 24 and 29 rain. But overall the soil is dry with blowing dust occuring during thunderstorm wind. Our July precipitation was 1.70 inches, most of which fell in one hour on July 24. The July NOAA normal is 1.81. Since Jan. 1 we have received 5.12 inches which is close to the normal of 5.10 inches. The above normal heat is causing high evaporation and dryness and heat stress. The Rio Grande River flow has been near zero. Our water supply is adequate but with mandatory watering restrictions in place.
