Although we had 0.4" rain 8-9 days ago, it has been hot, and all traces of that are gone. It has been in the 90s almost every day, with three days in the high 90s, up to 99. The heat is exhausing and the plants are suffering too! Grasses are brown. Streamflows are now well below normal. Several wildfires in the area have started. There is 110-acre one in the high country (mostly rock) about 5 miles from here that the USFS is allowing to burn so they can use it as justification for logging 4-5 miles from the fire. Lots of smoke here everyday from fires in Washington and Oregon. No rain in the 10-day forecast either.
