Two weeks of heat and no rain has greatly reduced the amount of soil moisture. Following the big storm that ended on July 16, the daily humidity level was very high and has been slowly getting back down to near-normal levels. Standing water in local fields has mostly disappeared and the low-water crossing have dried up. The drought index remains unchanged and the DSCI remains at 0. The Llano River is slowly returning to normal but is still flowing at an above average rate. The USGS reports the river at Hwy 87 is flowing at 486 cfs vs the 53-year medium of 91 cfs. There are no burn bans in effect.
