We have had three days with light rain this week that has helped to keep things green around here. Total for this week has been 0.24". Beans in this area are dark green and bushy, corn has tassels and looks healthy from the road. Our garden is doing well with green peppers being picked and tomatoes filling out but not colored yet. Sweet potatoes are healthy looking and deer haven't found them yet. Fireflies are out at night. Chimney swifts soar around in late afternoons. Japanese beetles have not been a problem this year. I have killed around 30 so far where last year I would fill soapy water jars twice daily with them. Overflow creek and pond have not had standing water this week. I frequently see yellow and black swallowtail butterflies and other of our common butterflies, plus hummingbirds visiting our wildflowers. No power outages this week. It has been a nice late July week. Attached pictures are back alfalfa field and overflow pond.
