Although we got .40" last week from 2 very local thunderstorms, it had been 3 weeks without any rain, with very hot temperatures. The past week temps climbed to the extreme, up to 99, and so there is nothing left of that rain. one fire is now burning 6 miles west of us up in the high country. It's mostly in rock and scree and is 105 acres, but as usual the USFS is using it as an excuse to log 5 miles away. Very smokey here, but smoke is mostly coming from far away in Oregon and Washington. Grass is brown and dormant.
