We have not had any real rain since last Tuesday. As a result the soil has dried out quite a bit, at least around my house. Many of the soil is quiet light brown and hard. Lawns are drying up, including mine.

Watersheds are low.

This dryness should prevent the upcoming rain event from producing much (if any flooding). In fact, in most cases the rain should be beneficial.
