A dry week with average high temperature of 76 degrees, with 2 days in the 80s, ETo 0.60". Low average was 55 degrees. July precipitation at 18%. Drought Map moved the D1 zone--Moderate Drought--into the northern half of Humboldt County. Ruth Lake Reservoir at 90% on 7/20. Rivers continue to slowly drop and remain warm, however a third drowning on the Trinity River occurred. Three in a week. Algae bloom on the South Fork of the Eel River led to the death of a dog, and the county issued heightened warnings, as it is occurring somewhat earlier, due to the lower river levels from the drought conditions. Humboldt Folklife Festival brought lots of music this week to Blue Lake. Bear continues to roam, and even entered my garage to raid my garbage container and stock of bird seed. Small fires continue to happen, but responses have been quick, keeping the spreading down. Two, one from a boat trailer that lost its wheel, and another by a tractor-trailer dragging a chain, started along a local road and a highway.
