This week brought some much needed rain. Our central area got enough rain to help with the drought with 0.78" spread throughout the week. SE areas of the state received even higher amounts, and those areas needed it even more. 
The wildfire smoke from last week has not returned, for now anyway. Daytime temperatures have been mostly in the 70s with low humidity. Lovely weather...
Plants are responding to the blend of sun and rain. Lawns need mowing again, Rose of Sharon blooms are opening and goldenrod is starting to flower as well, bringing the bees and other pollenators out in earnest. Over the past week or ten days, four monarch butterflies were spotted in the pollenator garden, more than I've seen in decades. Other butterflies are often seen around there as well.
Weather forecasts predict another day or so of this lovely weather before conditions change. A little more (predicted) rain will help with the drought if only to keep conditions from getting any worse. That will be a good thing.
