I'm going to swing us back to Near Normal because the basement is drier than it has been nearly all the warm season (but it is not dry) and the rivers and ditches are not full or overflowing. We had about 1/2" of rain in the past week with normal summer temperatures. Thus, we hit the goldilocks zone of just right: not too hot, too cold, too wet, nor too dry.

Trees are still doing generally fine but there some leaf fall from the apple trees. Stressed trees are already turning color but those trees are rare to see.

In the garden, daises and daylilies are passing peak with phlox coming in well. Blue corn flowers and Queen Anne's lace is doing very well.  Lettuce is still producing. The first zucchini has been picked! My tomatoes are just barely changing color now from green to the lightest yellow.

Corn in the fields is person-high now but MANY fields this year are filled with the low waving leaves of soybeans.

For wild animals, bunny stopped by. Swallows have begun their murmurations and pre-autumn gatherings.

Allergies have been low.

I tend to think of dews as a late summer/autumn thing but we've had dews all this warm season. Perhaps only 1-2 days have started dry.

It was a lovely week of extreme nothing: no extreme storms, no heat, no floods, no frosts.  Thank goodness.
