General:  The good news for this week is that we reached July's 6 year average in moisture:  We reached .49" and expected .466".  We're still low for the year, of course, but the rain gave the plants and animals (including human animals) some respite from the heat.
Agriculture:  The mustard and wheat are both ripe and in seed, so it didn't make much difference to them.  Again, I applaud the wisdom of our neighbors for using dryland farming methods rather than depleting the ground water.  
Energy: We created 82.74 kWHR of energy yesterday, and only used 26.17 kWHR, sending the rest to Idaho Power.  This is a testament to the amazing benefits of home solar.  We received a notice from Idaho Power that we could expect power outages as usage swelled during this heatwave, and it was refreshing to know that our house runs on solar all day (and into the night, with a backup battery).  
Fire:  Risk is high, of course.  We're tinder dry.
Plants/wildlife: Plants are drying out, as normal, and birds are starting some flocking behavior.  The ground squirrels are not underground (normal), and we're hearing a baby owl at night.
water:  Again, we exceeded our long-term 6 year average for July, which was wonderful after the winter and spring of drought.
