A hot and dry weather pattern persisted this week with just 0.11" inches of rainfall observed. While this rainfall did dampen the soil for about a day, the overall soil conditions are becoming much more sandy and less in the way of moist topsoil. I did struggle to decide whether to leave my condition monitoring as near normal, or to change it and I decided with the topsoil being sandy to change it to mildly dry. Next, our area grasses remain green with a mixture of brown grasses, and our wildflower garden's last blooms for the year have died out recently. Also, the fig tree that lost all of it's leaves last week, appears to be trying to grow some new green leaves and I feel I must start watering my young trees now that the rains have stopped for now. Lastly, area wildlife have been active with multiple sightings of various species of birds, and multiple sightings of various flying insects.
